What kind of writer are you? If you write for business or pleasure you know that the scary Deadline can be a monkey on your back. In fact, my pet monkey I have named Lawrence. He likes to live on my desk to the bottom right of my computer and say things like “Hey, there’s a new episode of Downton Abbey ready to watch!” Or, “hey you forgot to program the DVR to record Judge Judy! Better go watch it online.” My personal favorite is, “hey, the bosses are out of town, looks like a trip to the neighborhood bakery is in order since you can be spared for half an hour at the office.” Ya’ll, there’s this banana pudding—but I digress.
Today I want to talk about getting that monkey off your back and meeting your deadlines. Share with me some of your favorite ways to stick to your guns and show up to the page. Here are my top three.

Welcome to my blog! This is meant to be a journal chronicling the journey towards publication! 2011 was a very exciting year for me and 2012 will be even better! I just know it! I’ve created all sorts of communities for myself online that have increased my social circles in the romance world and now I’m ready to put on my big girl panties and take a leap into the deep end!
All the self-help and writer 101 advice columns that I follow suggest that I do not do things like eat, listen to music or have episodes of REVENGE streaming in the background while I compose the next great romance novel or one of these blog posts, but hey—a girl’s got to multi task, right?
What you will get when you come back again and again (because you’ve already bookmarked this page right?) is book reviews, insightful commentary (I hope) on the writing process and advice from those in the industry that I respect and admire.
